What Happened to Becky Acorn?

“It was a beautiful rabbit hole of discovery!”

Welcome to What Happened to Becky Acorn? — the collaborative investigative research game that's played entirely in digital environments.

College sophomore Becky Acorn has vanished without a trace. You and your team of 2-5 players will have 90 minutes to meet up on Zoom and search through Becky's Google Drive, gathering evidence, following leads, and solving puzzles as you track her down.

If we’re out of play slots, have no fear! We know they disappear quickly, so we'll be adding more as soon as we can. In the meantime, sign up here to get a notification as soon as we release new play slots.

Players are raving!

“It was so fun! An incredibly detailed and intricate story that fostered a great sense of teamwork and discovery. Super great way to do an ‘escape room’ like experience while in quarantine. Most fun I have had in a while.”

“Becky Acorn is like an escape room for the digital age, and one that actually benefits from incorporating Zoom and online platforms into its design instead of feeling like it works in spite of them.”

“I love having game nights with my friends. Social distancing has been really hard, and my family doesn't like games. This was the perfect evening. Crazy, fun, and the right amount of challenging. I can't wait for more content!”

"So fun, so creative, wow." • "This was SO creative. I loved it, and was really wrapped up in the story, some incredible plot twists." • "This game is like if self-described social media investigators were in charge of finding the zodiac killer." • "The mystery, the camaraderie, and virtual adventure!" • "All of those hours spent glued to the couch watching Law and Order have finally paid off!!!" • “Wow, I feel like Nancy Fuckin’ Drew.” • “This is like The DaVinci Code. There are so many layers.” • “I’m really freaked out right now. I’m never becoming a detective.” •
“I haven’t felt this alive in months!”

Craving an invitation to murder?

Coming Soon…

May I take your coat? Your candlestick, wrench, or rope?

I see you came prepared for a party.

Welcome to Gently Manor, a secluded estate, overgrown with secrets, lies, and deadly ambitions. In this new storytelling game, you and your friends will plummet into an Agatha Christie novel of your own devising, and investigate a crime of your own committing. Powered by conversation and performed in the theater of imagination, Murder Gently isn’t a game of solving mysteries—it’s the game of inventing them.

“It’s super fun collaborative storytelling! It does a great job helping you tell a story with your friends, while providing just enough structure that you don’t feel overwhelmed with possibilities.”

“I loved it. I've played a lot of mystery games, and with a lot of them, you do them once, and then you can't do them again. You can't unsolve the mystery. But with this you can play a bajillion more times, and every time will be different. I think it’s brilliant.”

“My least favorite part of games is having to sit and learn rules, so the idea that this hand-holds you as you go along…chef’s kiss. I loved that I didn’t have to know shit. I could just play.”

“It’s a game that you can play over and over and over again.” • “It was seriously a blast!” • “I loved the pacing, and the humor of the text, and how self-guided it is!“ • “I loved getting to be silly with my friends. I also loved that it was a game that I could easily pick up and learn as I go.” • “This was so much fun. We could have done this for ages, I could see us doing it again. Really fun.” • “I loved the voice and tone. It was so witty!” • “The way the game introduces rules is great. It feels like you can just sit there with friends and say, ‘Here's the book, let’s play.’ You don't have to explain anything.” • “I want to play this again!” • “Genius design.“ • “I think this is my all-time favorite game.” • “I want to send this game to all of my friends and family.” • “This was so fucking good. I’ve never laughed harder.” • “I want to play again!!!!!!!!!!”
